CalNonprofits Articles

The Nonprofit Overhead Project website is launching on August 24! To make it even more complete and more cool, we want to include materials you think should be shared with others on this important subject. Examples: articles (please attach document), links to articles, announcements of overhead-related events, videos, links to podcasts . . . you name it!

The site is starting off modestly, and we’ll be creating material and accepting materials from others for many months. So if you write something good next year, don’t forget to send it to us then.

Examples of topics:

• How to account for overhead in your accounting and finance systems
• How do governments handle indirect costs in their contracts with nonprofits? How can we improve these systems?
• How do foundations treat overhead in their grant making?
• What metrics do online charities use and how can you manage your rating?
• What are some good and bad ways to discuss overhead with donors? the public?

Please email Nancy Berlin with suggestions for what we need to include on the website. If it is material that you created, please be sure to give us permission to use it and include a short description of yourself and a graphic or a photo.

And in the meantime, here’s a one-pager on the Nonprofit Overhead Project.
