Legislators Gather with Nonprofit Leaders for New Session Kick-Off

To kick off the new legislative session, CalNonprofits brought together a group of state legislators, both incumbent and newly-elected, for a meet-and-greet reception on Tuesday at Cafeteria 15L in downtown Sacramento.

Keeping the interests and concerns of the state’s nonprofit sector front-and-center with state representatives is an important role for us, and we used the time to present on the economic and social impact of the nonprofit sector. We also focused on the unique ways nonprofits provide community-focused solutions to critical needs across the state in partnership with government. The event was co-hosted with a dozen other nonprofit organizations from around the state. Attendees included: Senators Monique Limon and Jerry McNerney, and Assemblymembers Gregg Hart; Steve Bennett; Mike Fong; David Tangipa; Joshua Lowenthal; Rick Chavez Zbur; Jeff Gonzalez; Darshana R. Patel; Ash Kalra; José Luis Solache.

Hosting partners: United Ways of California; Meals on Wheels California; Center for Nonprofit Management; Children’s Institute; Nonprofit Finance Fund; Community Bridges; NextGen Policy; PATH; RCAC (Rural Community Assistance Corp.); Catalyst California; California Behavioral Health Association (CBHA); and California Environmental Justice Alliance – CEJA Action
