109 California state legislators have named a “Nonprofit of the Year” in their districts. The honorees serve communities throughout the state and address a diverse range of issues – from food insecurity and climate change, to at-risk youth, arts education, domestic violence, mental health and more.
The selected nonprofits will be honored at a luncheon at the state Capitol on June 8, California Nonprofits Day. Each year, California Assemblymembers and State Senators are invited to honor a Nonprofit of the Year for their district. Co-sponsored by the Assembly Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector, the newly formed Senate Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector, and the California Association of Nonprofits (CalNonprofits), these awards:
Nonprofit honorees strengthen their relationships with legislators and vice versa. As policy advocates, we know that when legislators know nonprofits in their district, they listen more carefully to what nonprofits and the communities they represent need.
