GrantAdvisor promotes more productive philanthropy by creating an open, honest feedback loop between nonprofits and funders where grant applicants, grantees, and others can share their first-hand experiences working with funders through authentic, real-time reviews and comments. GrantAdvisor’s goal is not only to help grantseekers — especially those with less access to foundations – but also to generate public dialog about foundation initiatives and how funders affect the fields in which they work.

Simply put, GrantAdvisor is the TripAdvisor for nonprofits and foundations.

How it works:

Nonprofits:

  • Nonprofits can share experiences with funders anonymously by completing a review survey.  It only takes a few minutes. Funder profiles and reviews are published once they have at least 5 reviews — so if you want to see your review published, ask your friends and colleagues to write reviews too!
  • Nonprofits can use the posted reviews of funders to inform how they approach and work with a grantmaker.

Funders:

  • Foundations and funders are already listed on the site, ready for reviewers to choose. Registering with GrantAdvisor lets you receive automatic notices when your funder profile is about to be published and to post responses.
  • In addition to providing feedback and reviews, GrantAdvisor offers funders a forum through which they can gain insights into how they are perceived as leaders and influencers, not simply as grantmakers.
