Growing influence at the CA State Capitol
CalNonprofits was instrumental in the creation of the first Assembly Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector in 2017. In 2021, we cheered the formation of the Senate Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector.
Why it matters
These committees provide leadership in Sacramento on behalf of the nonprofit sector and help inform legislators about the critical role nonprofits play in communities across the state. The formation of these committees represents the growing strength and influence of our sector as well as wider recognition of the importance of nonprofits to the state’s economy and the well-being of it’s residents.
Committee members:
- Final Recommendations
- CA Assembly Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector
- CA Senate Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector
We encourage nonprofit leaders to attend these occasional hearings to keep abreast of the issues being addressed at the state level, and also to inform and guide lawmakers about issues key to the health of our sector and the communities we serve.
