Nonprofit Votes Count!
Voter engagement is a powerful way for nonprofits to make a difference in the communities they serve. Registering people to vote, equipping them with information about what’s on their ballot, and reminding them to vote on election day can ultimately support nonprofit missions – resulting in better schools, more affordable healthcare, expanded homeless services, or a cleaner environment.
At a time when voting rights are being restricted and democracy itself is under siege, nonprofit voter engagement has never been more critical. Seen as trusted messengers with deep community roots, nonprofits are uniquely positioned to reach groups traditionally underrepresented at the polls and build a more inclusive and equitable democracy.
There are 1.5 million nonprofit organizations in the U.S. that, taken together, employ over 13.5 million people, rely on 61 million volunteers, and serve millions more. Imagine if everyone we touched voted with their values!
The goals of our Vote with Your Mission campaign are simple: we encourage nonprofits to mobilize their staff, volunteers, and constituents as voters, and for policymakers to appreciate the nonprofit community as a powerful voting force.
