117 California Nonprofits Honored by their State Legislators
More than 400 guests – including at least 100 California state legislators – gathered on the grounds of the State Capitol in Sacramento last week for a luncheon honoring 117 nonprofit organizations selected as California Nonprofits of the Year.
It was the ninth such event hosted by CalNonprofits and the most successful to date, with all but three legislators having chosen a nonprofit from their district to celebrate.
“This a bipartisan event in the truest sense,” CalNonprofits CEO Geoff Green told the luncheon crowd, who braved high temperatures to attend the event, “with hundreds of us from across the political spectrum coming together in celebration of our state’s nonprofit sector.”
Additional speakers included Senator Monique Limón and Assemblymember Gregg Hart, chairs, respectively, of the Senate and Assembly Select Committees on the Nonprofit Sector. Michael Tubbs, founder of End Poverty in California (EPIC) and a former mayor of Stockton, served as keynote speaker.
Nearly 900 nonprofits organizations have now been recognized through the California Nonprofits of the Year initiative. You can find the 2024 honorees, by region, here along with more images; the full list of honorees is here.
