Alert: Double-Check Those Online 990s

According to our friends at the Nonprofit Association of Oregon, the 990 information showing up on transparency sites (i.e. Candid, ProPublica, GuideStar) may be incorrect, due to an IRS technical glitch. Apparently this is being addressed and should be resolved in the next two weeks. The source of the issue appears to be an error that has 2022 data being superimposed onto 2021 forms.

In the meantime, it’s probably a good idea to send 990 forms directly to any funders or other entities requesting them. And then double-check your 990s on those public sites in a couple of weeks. Technology!
